After setting up the NX server I tried connecting. Everything seems fine until I get a message
/opt/NX/bin/nxloadconfig: line 87: hostname: command not found
NX> 280 Exiting on signal: 15
from the client.
Is there some command "hostname" that I need installed?

Try installing net-tools.

This worked! But I thought that net-tools was now deprecated in Arch?
Anyhow, I can now connect, but the NX logo appears and then crashes without any error messages...

net-tools are deprecated but issues with e.g. hostname are still not fully resolved, even though bug reports get closed https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/24651

Hi,
I was having the same problem, and after installing net-tools, the "hostname: command not found" message no longer appears, but now it says "Autentication failed" for any user I try to log in. (and I tried several times and re-typed the password very carefully)
Then I did as wiki says but it still didn't worked.
I realized there is and option in /opt/NX/etc/node.conf
# This adds the usermode to the possible authentication methods
# Usermode means that a user can start the nxserver as his shell
# and connect directly to the right server via a custom client.
ENABLE_USERMODE_AUTHENTICATION="1"
When enabled, it works perfectly!
Hope it helps somebody
