[solved] Kismet - HowTo?

Hey guys,

I was going to install kismet via pacman -S kismet. But I don't know how to scan for hidden SSIDs. As far as I can see, kismet shows only my hidden ssid. I was looking for a How-To at Google but I did not find anything. Is there any HowTo which is also compatible with ArchLinux. I´ve found one in Ubuntus forum, but it is said to run kismet as root (via sudo) and as far as I know, that is an bad idea.

So, if anybody of you could please tell me / post a little howto, i would be grateful.

P.S. I am using an Samsung NC10 - As far as I know it has an Atheros Wireless Card.

P.P.S. I have found an other tool, but its not working - See http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=48341

Did you read the man pages? Far more reliable than any 3rd-party howto imo. Also, there's nothing arch-specific about running kismet on Arch.

Thanks for the advice. But man kismet was too tiny... smile But I have fixed it reading the docs at their homepage.
