safe to remove packages?

i just did pacman -Qdt and came up with this list:

eggdbus 0.6-1
git 1.7.6-1
hal 0.5.14-6
rpcbind 0.2.0-3
vbetool 1.1-1
xorg-apps 7.6-1
xorg-xkb-utils 7.6-1

are any of these safe to remove? if it matters i am running arch as a virtualbox guest and only use it from web browsing and experimenting before using a production system that will be a general use laptop.
how can i tell what would be safe to remove in the future?

also with repo-add is it supposed to be a folder somewhere to the specific tarball for the package? i want to backup some from AUR that i did the pkgbuild on for ease of installation on multiple pcs.

Re: safe to remove packages?

if you don't need 'em, then its safe to remove them. But make sure that you don't need them and they are not being used.

Re: safe to remove packages?

Your Arch installation doesn't (shouldn't) need them, that's the reason they show up in the 'pacman -Qdt' output. Only you can know if you need them. Maybe this will help:

pacman -Ql package1 [package2]... | egrep "/bin/.+"
