Good Afternoon Arch Community,
I've been using VirtualBox for some time. Unfortunately I am finding that VB's quality is degrading. Especially after yesterday's 'upgrade'. The VirtualBox forums so far have not been helpful. I sense a lot of defensiveness in that community, no matter how nicely/gently I try to word things. Plus I now have two applications that need DirectX and shader support that are known to work in VMWare Player/Workstation, and this type of graphics is the Achilles heel of VB.
I'm not of the leaning to dual-boot, although I down hold legit Windows licenses.
Under the 3.0 kernel section, it is a little confusing to me. There exists a step by step, but then in the middle of the step by step it links to a posted article about patches, then seems to mention an "instead of" and has a binary patch. It's confusing me.
I know I'm old. But may I respectfully, politely request an updated wiki for the 3 series kernels for VMWare that are a little more clearer.
What us older folks would find helpful is simply a step by step without interspersing links and posts. It confuses me on which to do. I've borked one attempted install so far.
Whomever is writing the wiki's, I express thanks and gratitude. It's all volunteer work....I understand that, and I appreciate your time.
I am requesting a little more conciseness, clarity, and step by step when dealing with this particular package that does not fit the 'pacman' scheme of things.
Sincerely and respectfully,
Dave
