So... why do these messages appear? I think this started with kernel 3.0.
Google didn't turn up anything meaningful...

When I upgraded I got
[2011-07-31 18:35] VERBOSE= in rc.conf no longer has any effect.
[2011-07-31 18:35] Please append 'quiet' to your kernel command line.
