[SOLVED] Adobe Flash issues on x86_64!

Hello there!

On my 64bit system, starting off I installed the 'flashplugin-beta' package to get Adobe Flash 11, this worked quite smoothly until it started making my system hang, this occurred quite often, and when I say hang, I mean I couldn't even switch to a different tty, weird thing is mouse tracking still worked fine, however the system would not respond when clicking, so I'd have to reboot.

I removed the beta package and installed the normal 'flashplugin' (I have multilib enabled in my mirrorlist), however now flash won't even load on pages! I'm using Chromium, there's just big evil grey blocks, sitting there mocking me where my lovely content should be.

I also installed an older version of flash from AUR 'lib32-flashplugin10.1' but when using Chromium every page I loaded would prompt that it's an older version of flash and give me the option to either update flash or to 'let it run this time', when I selected 'let it run this time' it worked great... but, as I'm sure you can imagine, that'd be extremely cumbersome...

Any help on this is greatly appreciated!

After installing flashplugin from multilib, did you restart your browser? Do you have any addons like flashblock or noscript in your browser?

If all else fails, try starting the browser with a new profile.

Thanks for the reply Inxsible.

I did indeed restart the browser, I even restarted the PC.

I've tried a couple re-installs of both packages, after which they both took effect after restarting my browser.

Unfortunately, those both seem to be fixes for Firefox, I'm a Chromium user sad

**EDIT**

Turns out that first link you posted was helpful! I read your post enquiring if they'd tried the 64bit Flash from AUR, clicked on the link to the AUR package to check it out, the first comment stated:

'This is been mentioned a hundred times before, if youre comp is freezing please DISABLE hardware acceleration by setting EnableLinuxHWVideoDecode=0 or just commenting out the line in /etc/adobe/mms.cfg'

I changed 'EnableLinuxHWVideoDecode=1' to 'EnableLinuxHWVideoDecode=0' in /etc/adobe/mms.cfg and it's running prefect now! I'm using flashplugin-beta and it's flawless!

Cheers for the help Clown! big_smile

The first link problem was browser independent, with the OP stating that he had the same problem in both Firefox and Chromium

Edit: Congratulations.
