Shutdown fail after change ISP

Hi.

These days I changed my ISP. Not the ISP in fact, only that I used to have ADSL internet and now I have optical fiber. In any case, to access the internet I use a wireless (the router equipament changed too).
I was thinking that after setting up the info for the new wireless, everithing would go easy.

And with one of our computers it's all ok. Both of them use arch linux with gnome  and networkmanager. The config is the same.
In fact I can use internet and network withou problems (aparently)

My problem shows up when I try to reboot or shutdown my machine.
The machine just show a bunch of code on the screen and never reboot or shutdown.

When I disable the networkmanager in the rc.conf, the problem goes away (and my net too... hehe).

So, I tried to reinstall networkmanager and network-manager-applet, but this did not solved the problem.

Thanks for any help that you can give smile

Here are some "pictures" of my problem...

Re: Shutdown fail after change ISP

Pretty please post thumbnails not the gigantic full-size pictures.

Do you have 'quiet' on your kernel boot line?

kernel /vmlinuz-linux root=/dev/disk/by-uuid/bf1d191b-0f0d-4961-bd67-4d023a2e5873 quiet ro

?

Your problem sounds similar to https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/25292

Sorry for the images (I changed them for small ones)
I do not have "quiet" in my kernel boot line smile

I'll take a look on the link you show.

But when networkmanager is disabled (!networkmanager), aside the internet not works, of course, the machine shutdown and reboot without problem...

I somehow thought you meant that if you removed networkmanager it stopped the code printing when shutting down - which really baffled me. I should have read your post again, sorry about this.

No problem smile

I'm just trying to avoid the need to re-install the system, looking for a solution to this "really weird" problem.
I really think that can be something up to configuration or some missing file, I don't know.

I usually update the system every day. And I updated it on the same day I changed the ISP, like I do on the other machine. But in this one, the one that I'm getting the problem, I have much more software installed than in the other. But the kernel and the networkmanager are the same...

When I comment the networkmanager daemon on rc.conf, then the system shutdown and reboot ok. So, must be something with it, no?

Re: Shutdown fail after change ISP

Just to do a little follow up.
I just updated my system, for kernel 3.1 and other things and now everything is working. I can shut down my machine with no problems :-)
