Automounter doesn't work in openbox

I used to use Xfce4 and Thunar, I think this is a good combination but I had to downsize a little and now use openbox. Since this change, I can no longer access USB thumbdrives through Thunar, without first mounting them as root. So I think Xfce must be starting a service that mounts/unmounts as needed, and does whatever magic to make the disk appear in Thunar.

Is there a way of having that start with Openbox too?

How exactly do you start openbox, post your .xinitrc.

Re: Automounter doesn't work in openbox

Openbox is a WM whereas XFCE is a DE. The difference is that you have to add in all the apps that you want, when using a WM. A DE on the other hand provides basic defaults.

So the question is :: What app are you using to automount in Openbox?

export XMODIFIERS=@im=ibus
export GTK_IM_MODULE=ibus
export QT_IM_MODULE=ibus
#exec openbox-session
exec ck-launch-session gnome-session

that doesn't make sense... I suppose it's not being run. I just choose the openbox from the login menu.

Hi wilsonsamm,

Try to exec gnome-seccion like so in your xinitrc:

exec ck-launch-session dbus-launch --sh-syntax --exit-with-session gnome-session

BTW do you use any display manager to start X?
