In wicd, I have my wireless networked ticked as "automatically connect to this network". I can click the connect button and it connects fine. If I disconnect (or suspend my laptop), however, it does not autoconnect again afterwards.
If I run /usr/share/wicd/daemon/autoconnect.py, nothing happens except /var/log/wicd/wicd.log gets a line saying something like
2011/09/28 08:33:00 :: Autoconnecting...
(but nothing more, nothing new in dmesg)
Still, connecting by pressing the button in the GUI works. Shouldn't the "tick" be enough?
/etc/wicd/manager-settings.conf: http://paste.pocoo.org/show/483686/
relevant parts of /etc/wicd/wireless-settings.conf: http://paste.pocoo.org/show/483687/
(I think that's all the settings I have.)

I can't see your Dns servers. In dns1 put your gateway (192.168.x.x) in dn2 208.67.222.222 and in dns3 208.67.220.220. Ithink it will help you

no difference
btw, my /etc/resolv.conf already looked like
# Generated by dhcpcd from wlan0
# /etc/resolv.conf.head can replace this line
domain lan
nameserver 192.168.1.1
nameserver 66.33.206.206
nameserver 208.96.10.221
nameserver 66.33.216.216

Maybe I don't explain well. Open your Wicd Network Manager, then click on preferences, and then you will see dn1 dns2... select "use global dns servers" and put the servers there. Or you can click "properties" on you own ESSID if you don't want global dns servers, and put it there. Remember to fill your ip and the rest of the configuration.

Yes, I did that, and it didn't help.
(Also, why should DNS make a difference to autoconnect, when I can easily manually connect?)

Not sure if this is related, but when I did
# iwconfig wlan0 power off
wicd stopped disconnecting, and so the autoconnect hasn't been an issue (it might even be that the power management was the reason for autoconnect failing?)
