Gnome Network Manager will not connect to WPA network

I have a WPA network that I cannot get this computer to connect to. I click on the icon on the panel, select the network, type in my password and it doesn't connect. It does the little 'connecting' animation (I guess that's what you can call it) but after a few seconds the password prompt comes back up. I have triple checked the password and SSID and everything is correct.

It's 3 a.m. and I've been working on getting this thing set up all day. Maybe this will all make more sense after I get some sleep... I have no idea what I need to do to get this working. I'll be glad to post any additional information you need - just let me know.

And this made me looking like an idiot in my university today  ;(

Bluman's plugin for NM isn't working too ;( I even couldn't compile it from abs

EDIT: Adding "export PYTHON=/usr/bin/python2" before "./configure" helps
