since the ath5k driver is already part of the kernel i just popped in the card in my dell d410 and used mod probe on the system to start ath5k. i removed the old ipw2200 drivers to prevent conflicts and followed the wiki and blacklisted all the modules it stated in my modprobe.conf however the comment in the file indicates its for kernel 2.6. i am guessing the wireless antenna wires do not have a specific order on the card but last night with them connected different i had the interface intermittently and when i tried to connect to it the pc would lock up.
also i cannot post logs from the machine as i have no ethernet connection available to get it online at the moment. what else cal i try with this? should i download the madwifi package on another system and locally install it?
i do notice this error when booting:
ath5k phy0: failed to wakeup the MAC chiplspci still does display my card however i just get no wlan0 interface.
my wifi led is on but my wireless toggle (fn+f2) does not change this fact. when it was working my bluetooth led lights up and shows the wifi activity not the wifi led itself.
