[Slow printing] CUPS uses a very limited bandwidth when spooling

Hi all,

I have an Epson AcuLaser M2300-N, connected to my LAN via ethernet on a 1Gbit link and configured in cups with its own eplaser driver. The printer itself supports a 100Mbit link, and I can see in its web interface that 100Mbit (full duplex) is indeed the negotiated speed, but some prints are incredibly slow and take a lot of time.
I did some network testing and I noticed that the printer sends out about 200-250 Kib/s, nothing more, so whenever the page contains some graphics I need sometimes up to 10 minutes just to print a single page.

I'm not able to find what is causing the slowdown, the network settings seem to be ok (static IP address, static internal DNS, no transmission errors), but there may be something I'm missing. The network in itself is ok, I can go well beyond 100Mbit/s on gigabit devices. Any advice?
