...Been away from arch for about 6 months..

I was reading the home page of all the new developments, things that have to be changed if you have them this way or that way, settings that must be reconfigured, etc.. (I'm talking about the top & left side of the archlinux.org homepage..

My question is.. if doing a clean install.. does it just install and you tweak it the usual way to get desktop, settings, apps, etc..

or after install do you have to do "alot" of under the hood per the homepage, or is that for people that altered their own things their own way instead of a vanilla install..

just asking..thanks

Although not your exact question, it is mostly answered in this thread: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=133362

Short answer: a new install doesn't require any of the manual interventions.

If you use the "Netinstall" image then you shouldn't have to worry about any of those advisories.  Netinstall installs the most current packages and before it does then the packages don't exist anyway so they all install cleanly - no previous configuration to worry about.  My preference is Netinstall just because it's always up-to-date.
