Paypal inaccessible with libssl 1.0.1

Downgrading to 1.0.0.h or any earlier version fixes the issue, however it becomes impossible to make an ssh connection to the box. SSL connections to other sites work on 1.0.1, it is only Paypal.

Is there any solution that will get me both SSH and Paypal working?
