Help setting up a computer lab?

Hey guys, I'm setting up a computer lab for my dorm, and I need to know how to do some things. Students have accounts on a student-run server, I want to set it up such that desktops in the computer lab have the same login credentials as this server. How would I do that? Also, I'd like for their home directory on the server to be automatically mounted when they log into a desktop. Also, can the same thing be done with windows? I would ideally like to dual boot linux/windows.

Thanks.

The linked article refers to windows 2000, do you know of one that works for windows 7?

Not out the top of my head, no. Maybe someone else does.
