[SOLVED] vpnc no response from target

I have been using vpnc successfully for the past few years, but just recently discovered that I can no longer connect to any VPN from my home Arch box. I always get the message:

vpnc: no response from target

I have tried setting debug modes, but I'm not sure what I am looking for in those logs. The connection appears to hang and then the no response message comes through.

I have also tried all the suggestions here: http://prystash.blogspot.com/2009/09/vp … arget.html, but those options make no difference.

Strangely, the exact same configuration script works fine from my Arch system at work, so there must be some setting here that is causing the problem. Any ideas?

Re: [SOLVED] vpnc no response from target

Any chance that port 500 has become blocked by a (1) new firewall, (2) your router, (3) your friendly neighborhood ISP ?

Ah, good call. It was a router setting that somehow got flipped so that it would reject IPSec VPN traffic. Thanks for the hint!
