VOIP over 3G disconnects on dial-out

Hi Guys,

I have just set up a computer with a 3G internet connection to the world.

I am trying to get a reliable VOIP phone service over this interface. I am finding that when I dial out, I get dial tone, dial the number, then after a few seconds
I get a disconnect. Sometimes the other end will answer, then disconnect.

Calls-in are fine .. just calls-out are the problem.

I have made sure all the SIP ports are open on the firewall for the VOIP service. According the the VOIP provider they are seeing that my phone interface is not responding on the
ports .. is it possible the 3G network provider is blocking the SIP ports?

However, I can use Gtalk phone out from a computer just fine ... and that is using SIP too right? Maybe Gtalk is using different ports?

This is bugging me no end, this should not be that hard .. anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,
B

Re: VOIP over 3G disconnects on dial-out

Well I have found out that my 3G provider is not blocking ports. However, I have found that the issue only happens on that particular network, not others ..
I wonder if there are any setting I can change on my phone adapter that can help ..
