Problem with Shutdown!

Hello,

I am using archlinux for a couple of months but recently I struggle with improper arch shutdown! When I give the instruction: shutdown from terminal or gnome menu (whatever) after a few seconds I am receiving black screen, a short halt beep  and my laptop is not turning off but still working. In both: standard init scripts and systemd this problem happens.  Have You got any solution?
Thank You

Regards
Piotr

Re: Problem with Shutdown!

Nothing changed :-(

I have to add more information:
Dell XPS  1530
Latest Kernel: linux-3.3.7-1
Latest nvidia-295.53-1
Modules: fuse
Daemons: syslog-ng dbus networkmanager crond bluetooth
Display Manager: slim
Environment: Doesn't matter if it is mate or openbox...
Syslinux: .. root=/dev/sda6 rootflags=,relatime,user_xattr,barrier=1,data=ordered rootfstype=ext4  ro init=/usr/lib/systemd/systemd

I think that problem can result from kernel or nvidia driver or power managment (this problem has appeared from some time after upgrade). I can be wrong. Any ideas?

Re: Problem with Shutdown!

have you checked your logs? Do you get errors?

Just saying it doesn't work doesn't help anybody.

Re: Problem with Shutdown!

Logs are in /var/log/*

I'm far from an expert log-reader, but they're pretty easy to grep for particular contents.  everything.log would be a good place to start.

Re: Problem with Shutdown!

What's in ~/.xinitrc?

Since you're using slim: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=141155.
