Trying to get a wireless access point set up

Using the Software Access Point page on the ArchWiki has only gotten me so far...

What I'm trying to do is broadcast a wireless network from my wlan0 device and bridge the wlan0 device with my eth0 device. I want the SSID to be hidden and I want it secured with WPA2, hopefully with MAC address filtering (but that's not that big of a deal, I guess). Using the Archwiki page I linked to above, I got to the point where it has me test the connection. I can't see any "test" network when I scan for networks using my Windows 7 laptop nor my Android smartphone.

I think I have confirmed that I have a nl80211 compatible card. I ran `iw list` and information showed up so I assume it is compatible. Correct me if I'm wrong though. If you need more info, this is what `lspci` gives me (excluding all other devices of course):

02:00.0 Network controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8188CE 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter (rev 01)

I can't find the box the card came in but I'm pretty sure it's an ASUS. I'll try and go and find it later if additional information about the card is required.

If it matters at all, I'm already bridging my eth0 device with my eth1 device, following the Internet Share tutorial. I have my eth1 device attached to a switch, which is then connected to my laptop (it used to be two laptops until one died). I'm not running DHCP, I'm manually assigning static IP's in the 197.168.47.* range.  I would prefer to have the wireless devices on the same subnet as everything connected to my eth1 device so I will probably have to start running a DHCP daemon, but as of right now I just want to get a wireless access point going (baby steps).

Any information on where I proceed from here is greatly appreciated! smile
