Do any of you use a host-based or network intrusion detection systems? Are any available in the repos? Which specific system would you recommend?

Snort and Tripwire are both relatively straightforward to set up (or well, by carefully reading the docs at least). Snort is available in the Community repo; Tripwire is in the AUR.
