[SOLVED]Openvpn, Thunar and Samba shares.

Hello everyone

Ok so I have an Archlinux openvpn client and an Ubuntu openvpn server running samba. I want to be able to browse samba shares that are located on the Ubuntu Server through Thunar.
The problem is that Thunar is not automatically discovering the shares and I do have the gvfs and gvfs-smb packages installed. This means that a "Windows Network" appears under "Network" but I cannot "open" it.

Moreover if I manually make Thunar connect to the samba server by hitting Control-L and typing smb://10.8.0.1 (Openvpn's Server ip address) the shares do appear but I cannot open them (Thunar replies "cannot open 'folder name' ")

So I need to solve this last issue and I also want Thunar to discover the shares automatically. If it is possible ofc.

Sidenote: When Thunar and the Ubuntu server are connected on the same network (meaning not through vpn) Thunar can browse the Ubuntu samba shares just fine.

Openvpn in tun mode does not do broadcasting and that may be way you can't automatic discovery. I think in tap mode this works but I would stick with typing smb://10.8.0.1.

As per accessing shares I guess it's a permission problem on the server side.

Hmmm ill check about tap0.

Regarding the other issue, it probably was a server side problem. I just set up a new password at the samba server, and its all good.

I will probably stick with smb://10.8.0.1 but ill check the tap interface aswell
