The size of iptables.log

I've recently installed Firestarter since I've never used a firewall on my Linux machines and thought I'd give it a try.

Now I've been checking the log that iptables make and their size puzzles me; so far I've got three log files sized 200 kb, 3 MB and 1 MB and I was just wondering if they can keep on growing until I clear them myself or do they have a default size and after they've reached their limit they'll automatically reduce in size by removing older entries?

Re: The size of iptables.log

they grow. logrotate should eventually rotate out the oldest *files* after a set period of time.

It run as a daily cronjob. I think it only keeps 4 weeks of logs at a time. /etc/logrotate.conf should tell you more...

Re: The size of iptables.log

Thanks a bunch, y'all. Just trying to save some space on the ol' HD, 5 MB worth of iptables.log is too much for me..
