samba stopped working suddenly

I noticed that my samba shares are no longer browseable on the network, and that the server itself isn't even broadcasting as samba anymore. I can't access it in Linux and nothing in my smb.conf file has changed. All that changed was I went through a fairly routine pacman -Syu on the server. I downgraded samba to a previous version and still no luck.

This installation of Arch is well over a year old and the samba server has been working perfectly all this time up until I noticed it wasn't today. I last accessed the shares three days ago, which gives me a time frame for failure. I can still ssh into the server, mount it with sshfs and it is broadcasting afpd but I currently lack a Mac on which to test this service, it's just samba that stopped working.

Below is my smb.conf file, I apologize for it being kinda ungainly, it is an edit of the default example:

Again I feel I need to stress that the samba server was working perfectly for over a year through multiple pacman -Syu operations and I have no idea what's going on now.

I found a windows mcahine on which I can browse the samba shares. It seems only Linux reliably can not browse them. I am running arch on all my linux machines, and one of them has not been updated in 3 weeks(otherwise configured identically to my main machine) and it can not see or browse them either. Could the problem be on the client end, or both? What files do ya'll need to help?

If you're using systemd, try doing "systemctl restart nmdb.service"

P.S. to get rid of comments from your smb.conf, try running cat /etc/smb.conf | grep -v "#" | grep -v ";"
