Streaming video with lighttpd anyone
Believe it or not finding relavent info on this topic in the wild is pretty darn tough. I'd like to setup my lighttpd to treat mkv, mp4, mpg, avi etc. as something to cause the client's browser to open a mediaplayer rather than to download. From what I've found through searching, one needs to define the mimetype of these extensions in lighttpd.conf but the advice is to set them to 'application/x-vlc-plugin' which is fine for systems with vlc installed. Is there a more generic solution to this?
