I've been trying to connect an Apple Wireless Keyboard on a new Arch install and having no luck so far. The keyboard would connect properly before I re-installed. I also have a Bluetooth mouse currently connected and working nicely.
I've used Blueman for the mouse without issue. The problem with the keyboard however is that I'm being asked for a PIN for pairing. The usual suspects, 0000 & 1234 don't work. And according to the Apple support forum, the keyboard doesn't have a 'default' PIN; in OS X the local Bluetooth device would provide one to be entered on the pairing keyboard.
I also tried pairing with `bluez-simple-agent hci0 xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx` and hcitool auth xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx, but there also I'm asked for a PIN.
I couldn't find a clear solution in the man pages, though `man hciconfig` hinted that authentication would be disabled with `hciconfig hci0 noauth`, which I tried unsuccessfully.
Interestingly, Blueman does have an option in "Setup new device" to "Proceed without pairing" (which in context seems to mean without using a passkey). When I try this option I get an error message that says "Device added successfully, but failed to connect". So the device seems to be recognized, but not paired, if i understand correctly. This is further demonstrable by the fact that `hcitool info xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx` finds the device.
Does anyone know a way to bypass requesting a PIN when attempting to pair a Bluetooth device? Alternatively, is there a way to use a custom PIN that I can then enter on the pairing keyboard?
