Add console/text booting mode to grub [Solved]

I found a thread in Ubuntu to do this, but it does not exactly match against the arch entries in /etc/grub.d

Can someone please post the updated instructions for me?

Thanks

Andrew

Copy an existing entry from grub.cfg and just add systemd.unit=multi-user.target to the kernel command line parameters. You can put the entry in e.g. /etc/grub.d/40_custom and just regenerate grub.cfg.

CLI Paste | How To Ask Questions

Arch Linux | x86_64 | GPT | EFI boot | refind | stub loader | systemd | LVM2 on LUKS
Lenovo x270 | Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-7200U CPU @ 2.50GHz | Intel Wireless 8265/8275 | US keyboard w/ Euro | 512G NVMe INTEL SSDPEKKF512G7L

Re: Add console/text booting mode to grub [Solved]

I tried to follow your instructions, but after regenerating grub.cfg, the PC refused to boot. It turned out that when I copied the entry across some of the lines were split, so I will need to be more careful next time. Thank goodness for System Rescue CD smile

Thanks
