[solved][kernel-modules] snd-es1968 problems

Hello everybody,

Ive installed Arch .7 (using kernel 2.6.10-3 ) on my laptop, almost everything just runs great, really it rocks but there is only one problem. I cant get my sound working. This is what i did

* pacman -S alsa stuff
* alsaconf  -> detected maestro2 which means the snd-es1968 module, alsaconf automaticly added this to modprobe

Then i tried to modprobe the snd-es1968 module. The result was that my system totaly hang. Well after an reboot, i check if the module was automaticly loaded (is was configured in modprobe.conf) but it didn't. I checked the forums and found something like kernel26mm.
So i grabed kernel26mm (which is 2.6.13.rc5.mm1-1) with pacman plugged into grub en rebooted again. Result no snd-module loaded. When i tried modprobe snd-es1968 i get a lot of error, it looks kinda like this.

[root@mara atze]# modprobe snd-es1968

There are a lot more errors, this is just the beginning. checking dmesg gives me this

[atze@mara ~]$ dmesg
nd_timer: Unknown symbol snd_device_new

[17179906.204000] snd_pcm: Unknown symbol snd_timer_notify

There is more output but that wil fill your screen to much i think.

Has anybody any idea how to solve this problem (with out recompiling a kernel if possible)?

Re: [solved][kernel-modules] snd-es1968 problems

did you run alsaconf again after updating the kernel to kernel26mm?  That often solves these unknown module issues
