Hi,
I have problems with networkmanager connecting to our WLANs at the University. I can choose between eduroam (WPA2) and a free one from which we can connect to the internet via vpn. But unfortunately I cant connect to either of them. My android access point and my WLAN at home are working fine. How should I start to solve the problem?

You can look at logs (and maybe make networkmanager more verbose if it has a setting for that).
And make sure you have the right settings. For eduroam at my university, NM got most of the settings right, but I had to change one to PEAP (not on my laptop now, don't know what NM calls it exactly).

Check the instructions provided by your university's IT. Eduroam should work via networkmanager (you may need to fill in authentication methods, identity, cert etc), and for vpn there is e.g. openvpn and openconnect (depends on what your university is using).

It took me some time to figure out the correct settings from the instructions provided. This config works for me (blank fields not listed):
Wi-Fi tab
SSID: eduroam
Mode: Infrastructure
MTU: automatic
Wi-Fi Security tab
Security: WPA & WPA2 Enterprise
Authentication: Protected EAP (PEAP)
Ca certificate: the required cert file (see university website)
PEAP version: Automatic
Inner authentication: MSCHAPv2
Username: your username
Password: your password
IPv4 Settings tab
Method: Automatic (DHCP)
IPv6 Settings tab
Method: Ignore
If that does not work for you you should talk to the IT guys of your university. They should be more helpful than any instructions that are provided online.

Okay I started NM myself.
This is what I get if i connect to the FREE AP.

Those messages dont help me much. The only thing I find curious are:
1 Authentication in WLANuni-fr. Although this is a free access point and...
2 "failed (reason 'SSID not found')". Wtf? This SSID has been found trough a scan. It was not entered manually.
@cookies: This are exactly the settings I use. And this are exactly the settings that work on a windows machine and on ubuntu.
Any help?

Hm, strange. What does dhclient write to your journal when you try to connect to eduroam?
Did you try connection manually? I never had trouble when I used wpa_supplicant only (together with wpa_gui as a front end, made configuration much easier).

This is caused by an upstream bug in the Gnome NetworkManager GUI, and Arch user ROOKIE figured out how to deal with it here.
Unlike ROOKIE, manuelschneid3r has specified a cert file. Then again, the bug also seems to pop up when the connection doesn't actually require the certificate, so I guess it's worth trying the workaround(s).
