I installed archlinux couple of months ago, my kernel at that time was 3.6.8-1-ARCH the same as right now, the thing is when I try to update new kernel, the system boot and display the same old kernel version, no modules can be loaded because of this, I downgrade to 3.6.8-1-ARCH and everything is working, but I want to update to a new kernel version.
I try lot of things to get this fixed without success, if someone knows how to fix this, please let me know!
thanks in advance.
Are you using UEFI booting?
And is /boot mounted?
I try lot of things to get this fixed
While that's good, it'd be a lot better if you told us what these 'things' were so we know where to go next.
Things I try:
1. grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg
2. depmod -a
3. changing vmlinuz and initrd name then update grub
And yes my laptop us using UEFI
Is /boot mounted if it is a separate partition?
Did you try reinstalling grub to disk?
Using UEFI, did you copy the kernel to wherever it's actually being loaded from?
Thanks all for the help, I fix the issue mounting the correct boot device partition a then installing the package.
So the issue is solved? If so, great! Please mark the thread solved by tagging the subject of your original post.
