pacman can't resolve but everything else can

I am typing this from the same system, so browser works fine, but:

thoth ~ $ sudo pacman -Sy

I am using wireless, and eno1 (what used to be eth0) was sitting there unconfigured, so I destroyed it with:

sudo ip link set eno1 down

but still same results, where dig works fine, but pacman disagrees.  I've looked at the other threads on this subject but they seem to be focused on /etc/resolv.conf and friends.  But as I've shown above dns is working fine [for everything but pacman, including ping unlike one of the other posters my ping works just fine]  Anyone else seen anything like this?

Re: pacman can't resolve but everything else can

so I'm home now and it connects fine, but I couldn't for the life of me get it to work earlier, I used googles (8.8.8.8) and a couple of other external resolvers and everything as well as the local resolvers (192.168.0.1).  It would persist through reboots and everything I could throw at it.  But pacman would not connect whereas everything else would.

Just to clarify, are you using a proxy? Anything special about the network setup the did not work?

Re: pacman can't resolve but everything else can

ya nothing funny at all, just normal cable modem from TimeWarner with simple router in front of it.  Nothing fancy.  Still stumped as to what happened yesterday.

Re: pacman can't resolve but everything else can

Perhaps it's a coincidence, but I'm having the same issue and am also on TimeWarner.

Edit: Or, you need to update your mirrorlist from mirrorlist.pacnew. I did notice a lot of mirrors seem to have been changed.
