Hi guys
My arch can't get ip from unsecured wifi hot spot(no key), but when I try to use the same usb wifi adapter on windows 7 it works very well,
I try manually get connection or set static ip in wicd but nothing works, What is needed on arch to fix it?
Greetings

What is needed is information. You haven't provided any.
What commands do you use to manually get a connection, what is the output/result of each command?

i tried this
ifconfig wlan up
iwconfig wlan essid mynetwork mode managed key off
dhcpcd wlan
wlan connections timed out or somithing similir is result, i cant copy & paste - i have no internet on arch, i am not at home..
its really weird, windows ith the same wifi usb adapter has no problem, but arch does ;/

If you want help you'll need to do better than "or something similir". You can search the forums/wiki to see how you can save output from that system and bring it to another to post to the forums.
Also, where did you get those commands? Follow the wireless connection wiki page. I'm not sure those commands would even be expected to work.
Is you interface actually called wlan?

I will figure out this when I am back at home, I thought someone has similar problem with some unsecures wifi or some hotspot,
the same wifi on windows works ;/

Stop blaming arch and praising windows. Windows does everything for you behind the scenes; arch doesn't. If you want things to be done for you, stick with windows.
I see no reason to conclude that arch can't connect to wireless networks, but I do see much evidence that you have not even skimmed the basic information available on how to connect to wireless networks. If you issue the wrong commands, don't expect the right behavior.
EDIT: this is all said as advice on how to get help here to fix your problem. If you'd rather just stick with your conclusion that arch is broken, then I don't know what you want from these forums. It *might* be an arch problem: linux in general is not particularly good with some usb wifi dongles. But so far in this thread there has been zero information that would actually support that conclusion in this case. If you want to solve the problem, work step by step; if you want to jump to conclusion, just let me know and I'll stand clear to leave room.

What is your source for that? I can't find any information stating that wicd has been deprecated.

Sorry for whatever you see as aggressive. I'll leave you to your problem and not bother you further.
