[Solved] System freeze

Hey everyone,
Looking for some insight on how to troubleshoot an internet problem I've been having on my Arch netbook.

My system boots fine and automatically connects to the internet via wireless wlp2s0, but when I try to connect to a website via Firefox my whole system freezes, no mouse movement no response from conky, etc. and I have to force shutdown.

The odd part is the page begins to load before the system freeze. Thinking it may be a Firefox issue I also I tried pinging www.google.com through terminal and it works until the approx 31st ping request and then the system freezes. When my PC is booted it connects to the net and everything else runs fine, the freeze doesn't seem to happen until a number of packets are sent/received.

I did have a netctl issue where both netctl and netctl-auto were trying to manage my internet connection, but I fixed that by just disabling netctl and sticking with netctl-auto. No module fails or anything in systemctl. Is there a log I can check that might have some helpful info? Unfortunately with the system freeze its hard to for me to diagnose anything.

Apologies if this is a double post, I searched around this forum but couldn't find any similar problems and the netctl wiki didn't have anything. I know I'm not providing much info but any ideas would be helpful. I'm at work currently but I can post logs this afternoon (EST) if requested.

Thanks!

Re: [Solved] System freeze

Does your netbook have a broadcom WiFi card?
And if so, which kernel version have you got installed?

EDIT:
I'm just asking because I had the same problem on my netbook with broadcom and 3.10.6.
However it seems to be fixed now in 3.10.10 (https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=168177).

EDIT2:
As I just had to experience on my laptop, 3.10.10-1 did not fix this issue on my laptop, I downgraded to 3.10.3 again.

EDIT3:
Actually the 3.10.10-1 noted above was a patched version from one of the users; that's why mine didn't work.
But 3.10.11 and 3.11 should fix the issue, if I may trust the thread linked above.

Re: [Solved] System freeze

Thanks for the input Ayekat!
It is a broadcom BCM4313 and I'm on kernel release 3.10.7. I'll go ahead and try downgrading kernel and see if that helps. I'll update the thread if that fixes it.

Re: [Solved] System freeze

Sorry about the delay. I've been too busy with work to try the downgrade. Did it yesterday using pacman cache to kernel 3.9.5-1 and it looks like its working! Thanks again, will try to update now that the issue seems to be fixed in 3.11.
