Dropping OpenVPN Privileges Issue

I'm trying to drop OpenVPN privileges after startup from root to nobody as recommended in the ArchWiki. That works fine when I start OpenVPN, but when I go to shut it down, it fails to update the network setting because user "nobody" doesn't have rights to use the ip command. Any suggestions on how to fix this?
