What should I keep, nx-all or NoMachine nx-client? Recommendations?

I'm having a time trying to get NX on Arch to connect with FreeNX on CentOS server. And so far I've managed to install Opennx, nomachine's nx-client and nx-all (from AUR) in my haste. Nothings working yet. Three apps enter, but only one may leave, er...stay!

From posts here I'm already aware of the Arch communities preference for nx2go. I understand the NoMachine 2 client limit is a drag, but this is a small home server so its not an issue. The priority is to keep the server on the narrow path which means FreeNX, because that's what CentOS community is supporting. Nuf said.

Because the goal is to use Arch on laptop to connect to the server and not the other way around, the easy choice is to nix nx-all from the AUR repository and keep NoMachine. Whadayathink?

Re: What should I keep, nx-all or NoMachine nx-client? Recommendations?

I created the nx-all package because I never had much luck with freenx or whatever else. The nx-all package downloads all of the normal NoMachine components straight from their site and places files in the appropriate places with patches and whatnot so they'll work on Arch. Was there anything in particular that you remember about the nx-all package not working?

That said, the "nx-all" package might become "nomachine" soon. It seems that they've renamed the product from NoMachine NX to just NoMachine, so it seems more appropriate to call the package nomachine now. I only started on a new PKGBUILD for the 4.0.x line a few minutes ago, but I've got to get to my work work so it'll have to wait a little bit before I can really put effort into getting NoMachine working again.

Re: What should I keep, nx-all or NoMachine nx-client? Recommendations?

Thanks for replying to the topic (not a lot of nx peeps here it seems (>_<)

I have two responses to your question. I think I spaced and installed NX twice (see below). I've not been able to connect yet. NX client reports a problem with the authentication. When I tried to break down the problem I discovered this strange instruction in NX resources to share the server's private key (strange because usually the public keys are the files shared in key pair exchanges). Researching this only lead into more questions when I discovered ssh, sshd, ftpd, and nx directories were all containing authorized_keys files--and I only expect this file in ~/.ssh. My persistent questioning didn't go well either in forums here at Arch, CentOS, or unix.stackexchange. I've since deleted all key pairs and reinstalled SSH key pairs.

Take a look here and tell me, Does nx-all install all NX files in nx-all?

#/var/abs/local/
nx-all
nxclient-3.5.0-7.i386.tar.gz
NX
nx-all.tar.gz
# find / -iname 'nx'
/usr/NX
/usr/NX/home/nx
/usr/lib/nx
/var/abs/extra/nx
/var/abs/local/NX
/var/abs/local/nx-all/pkg/nx-all/usr/NX
/var/abs/local/nx-all/pkg/nx-all/usr/NX/home/nx
/var/abs/local/nx-all/src/NX
/var/abs/local/nx-all/src/NX/home/nx
