Hi everybody,
For some reasons, I have reinstalled Arch GNU/Linux a few weeks ago:
[bastien@zoulou ~]$ last -num 5
wtmp begins Wed Sep 18 16:29:10 2013
[bastien@zoulou ~]$
I have changed my box config from STATIC to DHCP.
After this reinstallation, I have some network problems that I do not know how to handle...
1 - after the launch of Thunderbird, I get the error message "Failed to connect to server [.....]".
So I close it then restart it immediatly, then I get the error message "Looked up [....]", then, sometimes it works,
sometimes I have AGAIN to close Thunderbird then restart it. And it works.
2 - if I have launch Thunderbird for some time, I cannot send a message. I have to close/restart Thunderbird
then I can send a message (if I don't wait before clicking on Send !).
3 - I have same problem with PACMAN. I sometimes have to click CTRL+C then re-run again PACMAN.
Here are my config files:
[root@zoulou bastien]# cat /etc/netctl/dhcpd
Description='A basic dhcp ethernet connection'
Interface=net0
Connection=ethernet
IP=dhcp
## for DHCPv6
#IP6=dhcp
## for IPv6 autoconfiguration
#IP6=stateless
[root@zoulou bastien]#
[root@zoulou bastien]# cat /etc/resolv.conf
# Generated by resolvconf
domain home
nameserver 192.168.1.1
[root@zoulou bastien]#
Do u have an idea?
Thanks!

I think your network is going up and down. I assume this is a wired network.
How are you controlling your network? What services are you starting from systemd? (post the output of systemctl --no-pager )
My guess is that you have multiple services vying for control of the network.

Did you enable both netctl and dhcpcd services? if so, then disable the dhcpcd service.
If you are not sure, please post the output of ls /etc/systemd/* -l

Perhaps I misunderstood. Is Thunderbird the only program with which you are having problems?

Hi,
pacman also.
with Firefox I had such problem. I had to press F5 several times, but then I checked the connection settings and found out that there was a "use Proxy" checked box.
So I only have problems with pacman and Thunderbird.
But strange, over the last two days I had no problem with pacman. But I have changed nothing...
Thanks,
Bastien
