Wireless very slow

So basically my wireless is very slow, and I think it's an issue with Arch. Installed Arch yesterday, never had this problem before. Only getting about 5mb/s download speed right now (while I get 90mb/s through the wired connection downstairs and I used to get 35mb/s wireless when I used other distros). Strangely enough, I'm still getting the usual 12mb/s upload speed.

output of iwconfig:

wlp7s1    IEEE 802.11bgn  ESSID:"Ziggo38269"
          Mode:Managed  Frequency:2.437 GHz  Access Point: E0:69:95:9D:63:F7
          Bit Rate=39 Mb/s   Tx-Power=17 dBm
          Retry  long limit:7   RTS thr:off   Fragment thr:off
          Power Management:off
          Link Quality=55/70  Signal level=-55 dBm
          Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
          Tx excessive retries:24  Invalid misc:913   Missed beacon:0

millibits/second ?  That is slow!  tongue

Regardless, You really should tell us which chipset you are using.
Also, how far are you from Ziggo38269?  Your signal quality and level seem a little low.  For instance, I am two rooms from my router, and I am currently at -47dBm.  8dB is more than 4 times the power at the antenna.  Actually, it is almost 8 times the power.

Re: Wireless very slow

@ewaller:
The distance from the router is a very misleading parameter. What's really important is the amount of interference and the transmit power of your card (you must see the AP and vice versa). His signal, -55 dBm, is quite good (actually, anything above -70 is OK). But look at the Tx retries and invalid frame count...

@kahrkunne:
You have either a problem with your NIC, its driver, or access point. So, you need to tell us more about your card and which driver you use. Also, do you have 802.11b enabled in AP?
