Privoxy js_events filter not working

I have the following code in my user.action file:

{ my_filter }
/

where my_filter is a set of filters, including the +filter{js_events}. However, javascript is not blocked or edited out. Why is this?

And yes, I actually do want to break 60% of the sites on the internet by disabling javascript. I don't need it and I don't want it, I usually visit sites whose majority conent is text, not fancy pull-down menus, etc. I'm paranoid, and javascript can be a security threat. I don't want nor do I need a lecture on why I should just forget it and use javascript. I simply want my question answered.
