I hadn't rebooted my laptop for a while (from now on I'm doing pacman -Syu && reboot), and after I did I couldn't connect to the internet. After hours of furious searching and attempts at fixing it, I decided to downgrade netctl 1.3-1 and see if that had an effect. I can now connect to the internet but only after running
# dhcpcd wlp3s0
after every time I reboot.
Firstly, why did rolling back the package almost magically fix my connection problems?
Secondly, how do I eliminate the need to run dhcpcd every time I reboot?
Thirdly, how can I successfully use the lastest version of netctl?
I'm too tired now, so I'll try and fully rectify this tomorrow.
EDIT:
Updating to netctl 1.4-2 seems to have fixed my issue
