I am using a script to connect automatically to a vpn when I plug the ethernet cable. The script also reconnects when the vpn connection falls down.
Sometime it happens I want to disconnect manually and the script promptly reconnects. It is possible to know what caused a disconnection?

Perhaps you could have a flag(it could be in a separate txt file) in your script wether you want it to automatically connect or not, make another script that starts/stops your VPN and sets the flag accordingly, use this script to stop and start your vpn. I don't know the answer to your question, but this would be an easy hack.
