I am attempting a new amd64 install (Thinkpad X61) and the pacstrap step fails:
error: key "Dan McGee <...>" could not be imported
error: required key missing from keyring

Are you using the Beginners' Guide? Have you followed these steps?
Note:
If pacman fails to verify your packages, stop the process with Ctrl+C and check the system time with cal. If the system date is invalid (e.g. it shows the year 2010), signing keys will be considered expired (or invalid), signature checks on packages will fail and installation will be interrupted. Make sure to correct the system time, using the command ntpd -qg, and retry running the pacstrap command. Refer to Time page for more information on correcting system time.
If pacman complains that error: failed to commit transaction (invalid or corrupted package), run the following command:
pacman-key --init && pacman-key --populate archlinux

@2ManyDogs: I am an experienced Arch user and was not using the Beginners' Guide but the Installation Guide, which does not cover this situation. When I saw your post, I checked the system date, which was set to something in 2008. This is a new old machine that I bought for my wife. It is 5 years old and came with a dead battery and apparently a dead cmos battery as well. Once I fixed the date and cleaned up per the note in the Beginner's Guide, all was well. Thanks for your help.

Have you used the archiso as host machine for the installation? Maybe ntpd should be enabled via sytemd on archiso, to set the system date automatically.
