slow pings to router via wifi

Hi,

The problem is that when I ping my wireless router , average time is about 10 to 15 ms, with minimal time 0.5ms.  Connection is with WPA2-PSK, wireless driver ath5k.
I use NetworkManager, thought that this may be a problem, but no, manually connecting with wpa_supplicant gives tha same results.

But under Mint 15 live dvd everything is ok:  min ping 0.5ms,  with average ping under 1ms. 
Btw the same problem is in Manjaro Linux.

I tried to remove /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf,  thinking that some misconfiguration there confuses NetworkManager but it didnt help.

So now Im stuck, can anyone help?
