Problems with Atheros pci wlan.

Hi.

Just installed a base-install of Arch 0,7 and the madwifi-drivers.
The drivers loaded just fine and all the wireless-tools shold be installed.

But when I run iwconfig it doesn't display any nics as wireless, even though 'wifi0' is the WLAN-pci-car (same hw-address) and the card is listed in lspci (as unknown).

Anyone knows a solution for this?

Apreciate any answers, thanks. smile

Re: Problems with Atheros pci wlan.

Hi,

Are you using the madwifi-ng drivers from the AUR?  I have not had success with those.  I have a d-link 530 card that is atheros.  It is working with some madwifi drivers from October 2005.  I tried the latest madwifi-ng drivers over the holidays, but had the same problem you report.  They compile nicely, but the wifi0 does not report any wireless extensions.

Try the last madwifi and see if it works for you.  You end up with an ath0 device.

Re: Problems with Atheros pci wlan.

Read the guide on madwifi-ng on their website. They've overhauled the architecture and you have to create a virtual device to get the wireless extensions.

The regular madwifi drivers in the AUR work fine with less fiddling, IMO.
