[Solved] cannot start any window managers

When I try to start any window manager using exec i3/dwm/herbstluftwm, it just takes me back to the console login prompt (I have no login manager)

I can get regular de's (currently using xfce) to run using exec startxfce4.

Any ideas?

Re: [Solved] cannot start any window managers

How are you starting X? Some logs would be nice: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=57855

Re: [Solved] cannot start any window managers

Normally I just start x using exec startxfce4 and that works. When I do the same for a window manager It doesn't work. Sorry about not having any logs, I guess I am not sure where it would log to (not in /var/log/)

Tried adding 'exec herbstluftwm' to .xinitrc (I have nothing else in it) and running startx. I seems to work but then immediately terminates the server. Here is the log for that
