[SOLVED]Successfully resolving but destination host un...

I have this strange problem: i have an asus wireless router connected with a d-link adsl modem. Now, my WinXP box is connected to the internet with no problem, but my arch laptop seems to have a strange problem: Whenever i ping something, the address gets correctly resolved, but then i get a "destination host unreachable" error. Could it be that this has something to do with the default gateway i set? by the way, to what should i set the default gw, to the ip address of the modem or to the address of the router? and i have the same question for the setup of the modem and the router, to what do i have to set the default gateway, respectively? Sorry for this noobish question, any help is appreciated
