(Solved) Can't ssh into machine from outside LAN

EDIT: turned the firewall on router off, restarted router and both machines, turned firewall back on, restarted router and both machines. works now.

I am able to ssh into various machines on my local network but unable to access a specific machine from outside the LAN. I have forwarded the local ip and port 22 in my router (TCP only).
