chromium no longer sees flash plugin

Upgraded chromium from 34.0.1847.137-1 to 35.0.1916.114-1, and now it no longer sees the flash plugin.

You'll have to use pepper flash (in the aur as chromium-pepper-flash)

Re: chromium no longer sees flash plugin

pepper-flash is 100 times faster and more stable than flashplugin from Adobe anyway.  It's the main reason I don't use firefox, because I can't use pepper-flash with it since it lacks the PepperAPI support.

Does pepper-flash support DRM?

If I want to watch videos on Amazon then, I need flash. Not only flash, but the one that supports DRM, so not pepper-flash.

Is this a new requirement?

Did you read the link? Support for the old plugin format has been removed. If you want flash, you need one that supports Chrome's new format, and right now, pepper-flash is the only one I know of.

Re: chromium no longer sees flash plugin

Be aware that the order of installation is important; if you have pepper-flash installed and for whatever reason have chromium installed 2nd (perhaps you are using an alternative package that supplies chromium), /etc/chromium/default will be overwritten and needs to contain the correct CHROMIUM_FLAGS for pepper-flash.  Just FYI.

Well, that article didn't give exact transition version numbers, and in that sense OP's question was valid.

From the end of the article, "April 2014: NPAPI support was removed from Chrome for Linux in release 35."

Interesting article.  It seems there is some code in alpha to use pepper flash in Firefox.  It's not officially supported by Mozilla though.

My bad. First off, I was thrown off by the fact that this was a 2013 post which kept on getting continually updated.
