Hi all,
I have a most annoying problem which I've been unable to solve googling and surfing the net in the past week. My office has a PPTP VPN setup, MSCHAPV2 MPPE 128 bit encryption and no compression (the usual and pretty basic stuff!), if I connect through my windows 8 install everything goes well. The connection is fast and responsive and I can work with no hiccups. As soon as I switch to Arch, however, I get an incredibly slow connection: I can't browse network resources nor access the database and If I don't use split-tunneling even web browsing is undoable. Basically everything that goes through the VPN is slowed down. Now I tried playing with various MTU settings, configuring the pptpclient manually and through the network manager applet but nothing seems to work. I should mention that my ISP provides a proprietary router/modem the access to which is VERY limited (I can do some port forwarding and some basic firewall rules but thats it) and I obviously don't have any control over my office network setup. If any of you guys has some insight I would be very grateful. I've been racking my brain over this and I really don't want to work on my windows 8 install
P.S. If you need more info on the matter please ask away
