virsh: no agent is available

For a long time, though I never took the time to post about this issue, I have been unable to create a QEMU/KVM connection with virt-manager to the local system or another system via SSH unless I connect to the root user.

The error always is:

Unable to connect to libvirt.

authentication failed: polkit: polkit\56retains_authorization_after_challenge=1
Authorization requires authentication but no agent is available.

Verify that the 'libvirtd' daemon is running
on the remote host.

libvirtd is running and I have polkit-gnome, polkit-kde and polkit-mate all installed, for the authentication agents. The error wil happen in any desktop environment also.

Has anybody found a solution for this issue?
