Map network drive Problem

I have a 2 network drives i need access to here on my campus.  One with the address

 \mdrivestudentsMYUSERNAME

and the other with the address

 \ntserv5faculty

I have samba started, but i am still unable to logon to the network drives.  Can someone give me a starting point for this?  Thanks in advance!   lol

Re: Map network drive Problem

For accessing samba-share you don't need a started samba server. You can access them with konqueror

smb://path/to/share

or smb4k (aur), also gui-tool or with smbmount (console).

Re: Map network drive Problem

I think you should check you network-settings under linux, especially your IP and the /etc/resolv.conf. Universities normally use dhcp. You can reseive the IP via dhcp using
[code]dhcpcd  eth0[code]

Re: Map network drive Problem

Find out the ip under windows and then try smb with the ip instead the name.

Did you use any type of firewalling?
