Yet another "my printer won't print" problem...
When I point my browser to localhost:631 the cups interface pulls up fine. When I print a document it just says "pending" and doesn't print. Documents print fine from other computers so it is not the printer. /var/log/cups/error_log says...
E [10/Sep/2014:19:04:53 -0400] Unable to bind socket for address [v1.::1]:631 - Address already in use.
E [10/Sep/2014:20:09:30 -0400] Unable to bind socket for address [v1.::1]:631 - Address already in use.
The printer section of the CUPS interface says...
HP-Photosmart-C6300-series HP Photosmart C6300 series HP Photosmart c6300 Series, hpcups 3.14.6 Paused - "Rendering completed"
I'm not sure what to do from here. Any help would be appreciated.

Is that a local printer, or a network printer?
Is that printer hosted by a computer, or does it host itself?
If it is hosted by a computer, what OS?
Are those other computers that do print using cups, or something the USA's Pacific Northwest?

The printer is a network printer. It is hosted by itself. I can see it is on my network using nmap....
Nmap scan report for 192.168.1.111
Host is up (0.014s latency).
Not shown: 988 closed ports
PORT STATE SERVICE
80/tcp open http
139/tcp open netbios-ssn
445/tcp open microsoft-ds
8080/tcp open http-proxy

9102/tcp open jetdirect

9220/tcp open unknown
9290/tcp open unknown
9500/tcp open ismserver
Nmap done: 1 IP address (1 host up) scanned in 1.81 seconds
I can print to the printer using my wife's computer (running windows 7) and my laptop (running Linux Mint).

So, I would check the address used by cups. Ensure that it had been at 192.168.1.111 when you installed the printer. I've seen home routers move things around.
If it moved, either use Avahi to find it by name, or ensure that your router always issues the same address to the MAC of your printer.
If, on the other hand, cups is looking for the printer at 192.168.1.111, we have not found the root cause as yet....

I went to the CUPS web interface, the printer URI is....
hp:/net/Photosmart_C6300_series?ip=192.168.1.111
So the IP address is correct.

Have you tried to print a test page directly from "HP Device Manager" gui? I don't know if it uses cups or talks directly to the printer, but if it talks directly to the printer it might help to at least remove connectivity problems from the equation.

I tried printing through the HP Device Manager and I still couldn't print. I finally gave up trying to find out what caused the problem. I removed and reinstalled the printer driver packages, added the printer and it printed just fine.
